Free Taster Trips to Alton Towers

Free Alton Towers Taster Days for Teachers Plus One

Alton Towers are offering Primary & Secondary School Teachers free days at this popular Staffordshire Theme Park!  These Teacher Taster Days are being offering on specific days throughout the season &  offer teachers PLUS a guest a chance to explore the park free of charge!

Teacher Taster Days are running on;

• 24 March 2012
• 19 May 2012
• 15 September 2012
• 13 October 2012

These events will begin with a 40 minute presentation on school trips to Alton Towers, (starting at 10.30 am) & then you are free to explore the park & rides for the rest of the day.

To apply, just contact Alton Towers at education@altontowers.com providing details of your school, profession, name, address & best dates to visit.  As taster days are limited to 180 guests per event, it’s best to give as many available dates as you can to maximize your chances.

No Preview Day for Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park & Legoland Windsor Preview Days

It has been announced that the Preview Days for both Thorpe Park & Legoland Windsor are not going ahead this year.  Historically preview days ran at Thorpe Park. Legoland Windsor & Chessington World of Adventures each year offering passholders & their guests a chance to view the theme parks ahead of the main season. It was often a chance a pick up a deal on a Merlin Pass too!

However last year saw unprecedented numbers visiting on the preview days leading to capacity problems at the theme parks.  With both Thorpe Park & Legoland Windsor now opting to remove preview days from their calendar, this only leave Chessington World of Adventures carrying on with tradition.

Alton Towers re-opens on 24 March 2012 with a new ride to boot!  Nemesis Sub -Terra, located close to Nemesis within the Forbidden Valley, is an indoor thrill ride that takes you through an elaborate network of caves.

Incorporating a new underground basement area, the theming will be based around the creation of the original Nemesis ride.  Dubbed as a  ‘psychologically & physically thrilling’ drop ride experience, Nemesis Sub-Terra is bound to be a popular ride this season.

To test public reaction to this new ride, artist Andrew Walker worked with Alton Towers on a 3D illusion that was recently set up in a shopping centre in South London.  You can check out the public’s reaction to this illusion below;

Height restrictions have now been announced for Nemesis Sub-Terra of 1.4m in line with the top thrill rides at the theme park.

Disneyland Paris Cheaper on the French Site?

Recent press coverage has provoked outrage at price differentials noted on the official French & English Disneyland Paris websites.

It would seem that offers available to French customers through the official Disneyland Paris site are not accessible to UK customers.  Even wily minded customers who have tried to book through the French site, have been barred unless they have a credit card that is registered to a French address.

Whilst understandable that Disneyland Paris will market itself differently to distinct nations, shouldn’t any offers running be accessible to all?  Whilst this is more straight forward for online offers, this is perhaps not quite so easy for theme parks using external sites to offer promotions.  Currently UK residents that take advantage of Disneyland Paris deals at;

• Sky TV; customers can currently pick up 2 FREE Disneyland Paris Tickets
• Tesco; clubcard vouchers can be redeemed for Disneyland Paris Tickets.
