When to go to beat the queues
Remember to pre-book your visit as the pool has capacity limitations and can get very busy at peak times.
Teacher training days are ideal for a less crowded experience,
Whilst the Waterpark is open throughout the year, the pool tends to be quieter out of the Theme Park season.
If you are going at a busy time, you’ll find it’s the queues for the slides that take up your time. If you can, it’s worth getting there early and heading straight for the slides and in particular Master Blaster.
If it’s raining, half the resort maybe in the pool with you, so worth checking the weather before you go!
Have a break
Your own food and drink is not allowed into the pool area. There is a snack bar by the pool side although this gets very busy and the queues can be long!
Treat yourself to a Themed Room at the Alton Tower’s Resort which includes use of the Waterpark. My favourite has to be the Chocolate Room that comes complete with an endless supply of hidden chocolate throughout your stay!
It wasn’t long ago that the Waterpark banned excessively tight trunks and thong bikini briefs. If you were unlucky enough to bring the incorrect attire, then a full range of appropriate swimwear is available for purchase in the pool shop next to the Waterpark entrance.
Brought the kids but not interested yourself?
Pay the spectator charge of £4.50 and make use of the seating around the pool edge if the children are old enough to be left to their own devises. It can get very warm inside the pool area, so be worth thinking about your attire even if it’s freezing outside!
There is a separate pool specifically designated for little ones. The toddler sessions are lovely for young children as it tends to be quiet and they provide a fantastic range of floats and inflatables around the pool area for addition fun.
Free parking for Waterpark customers.
Of course, there is the option of staying at the Alton Tower’s Resort which has the benefit of convenience of an on-site Water Park and Spa.
There are also many bed and breakfasts available within and around the village of Alton.
Alternatively, why not bring your tent and make use of the local camp sites. Or make use of the local YHA youth hostel located about 1.5miles from the theme park.
Be aware of the Waterpark’s strict adult to child ratios;
- 1 person over the age of 16: 1 child (4 years and under)
- 1 person over the age of 16: 2 children (ages 5-9)
- Under 10′s to be accompanied by a responsible adult
