Top tips

When to go

Choose your day carefully as Trentham Gardens can get busy in the school holidays: try to arrive early to avoid the crowds and take a picnic.

The Barfuss bare foot walk may not be open in poor weather conditions

If you are looking to undertake Aerial Extreme, look to do this first before the crowds arrive and then move to the main gardens for a picnic, a play in the park and the barfuss walk. Be aware that at Aerial Extreme that they have height rather than age restrictions, (minimum requirements 1.4m).

Have a break

Picnics are welcome at Trentham Gardens and the estate is set in lovely grounds in which to enjoy refreshments at your leisure. The only lockers available are for your shoes at the Barfuss Walk, (returnable £1 coin). However it’s not too far from the car park to the gardens for lunch.

Adventure play area

If you are picnicing with kids, try camping down by the adventure park so you can enjoy a more leisurely lunch whilst keeping an eye on the children and the toilets are close by too.

Monkey Forest: you can’t take food into the monkey forest for obvious reasons! However there is a fun play park area between the Monkey Forest & Aerial Extreme with plenty of picnic tables for you to use.

Places to Eat

Terazzo del giardin: located within the garden centre, (so no admission charges!), this Italian restaurant has a delightful outdoor terrace with views onto the gardens. With delicious food & good service and even a small indoor play area to keep little ones amused.

Cadwaladers: an ice cream parlour with a good range of ice-creams & toppings located opposite the entrance to Trentham admissions.

Within the gardens: try the Delicious tearooms for light lunches/afternoon tea. Service can be a little slow and does get busy especially in the school holidays and/or good weather. Children’s lunch boxes are available for about £3.50 with a small selection of healthier options.

On a fortune

Try the Monkey Forest VIP package: includes a behind the scenes tour, a chance to feed the monkeys, access to all the areas with the staff and a photo with a Barbary Macaque! Only available certain times of the year with prices starting from £80.

Something querky

Souvenirs; try Doggie Fashions which need to be seen to be believed! This doggy bakery includes doggie cookies, confectionery & even doggy ice-cream.
