Alton Towers Waterpark re-opens

January 19th, 2011

Alton Towers Waterpark has now re-opened, ahead of schedule, after the completion of it’s annual service. However, don’t turn up this weekend, (22 & 23 Jan), to check out the new improved waterpark as tickets are sold out! Tower Times is reporting that amongst the refurbishment upgrades are security improvements to the changing rooms that require a valid ticket to gain entry.

Briefs are back but still not at Alton Towers?

Alton Towers banned Speedo-style swimwear for men at their waterpark last year on the premise it was “not appropriate for a family venue.”

However American fashion is now spearheading a change in men’s swimwear with the shorter swimwear firmly in vogue.

But will our economic times & change in style cause Alton Towers to review it’s policy on swimwear or invoke a backlash against men in fashion? We will have to wait and see!

I’ve seen half price Merlin Pass deals in the past?

Here’s a deal with Capital FM where you can pick up a Merlin Pass for almost half price! For just £80, you can pick up a Merlin Pass, (standard price £150) with £5 of your purchase price going to Help a London Child. Just call 0871 282 9230 and quote Capital FM, calls will cost on average 10p a minute. Please note terms and conditions have changed for those purchasing a pass in this way including the loss of the free parking perks, (see below for more details).

Often passholder events, (that tend to allow passholders to bring up to 2 guests), offer half price deals so worth looking out for those!

Last year Merlin Passes were half price at the beginning of January for 10 days…so watch this space and we’ll let you know if this deal runs again!

Are the terms & conditions changing for a Merlin Pass?

It looks likely that the free car parking perk is now going – it certainly is for those purchasing a Merlin Pass through Capital FM. This is a substantial loss for those that make good use of their pass throughout the year. There also appears to be more restrictions on use during busy periods.
