Alton Towers Scarefest; The True Costs
To gain access to any of the horror mazes, you will need to pay for admission to the park. Whilst Terror of the Towers is included within your entrance charge, both the Carnival of Screams & the Boiler House are at an additional cost with a joint ticket priced at £12 per person.

Alton Towers Scarefest
The Terror of the Towers offers a fastrack ticket, usually priced around £5 per person and don’t forget standard parking for £6 per car.
Many of the 2 for 1 vouchers for Alton Towers are valid throughout the scarefest period, placing entrance at around £20 per person.
There is a late entrance ticket available for specific dates at Scarefest for just £12 per person for entry after 4pm. More details available at Scarefest Late Entry Offer.
Thorpe Park Fright Nights; The True Costs
Again, you need to gain access to the park to enjoy the fright night experience. There are no additional charges for these horror mazes once you have paid entry to the park although fastrack tickets are normally available for the horror mazes at an additional cost. Remember your parking charge of £3 per car.

Many of the 2 for 1 Thorpe Park vouchers are only valid for the early Fright Night dates. Even Thorpe Park online prices creep up to £40.30 per person on the busier nights. There is no late entry ticket for Fright Nights at Thorpe Park.
Passholders; Scarfest Vs Fright Nights
If you have a Premium Merlin Annual Pass, you gain free entry to all Fright Nights at Thorpe Park. All other passholders, (Theme Park Passholders, Merlin Standard Passholders) will need to pay a £5 surcharge per person.
At Alton Towers, all passholders, (Premium & Standard), gain access to the theme park throughout Scarefest without any additional surcharges. There is no Early Ride Time running through Scarefest.
Best Value; Alton Towers Scarefest or Thorpe Park Fright Nights
Both theme parks appear to have marketed & priced their scare packages quite differently. Thorpe Park offers the longer opening hours and the greater number main horror attractions. Whilst there is not any additional charges for these mazes at Thorpe Park, you may very well be tempted by their fastrack options when you see the queues!
Whilst you are more likely to pick up a deal on entrance at Alton Towers, there is no way round the surcharges for two of the main horror mazes and the parking is costly.
Scarefest or Fright Nights? It’s difficult to determine best value…if you don’t mind queues and can spend a full day/evening, then Fright Nights will perhaps give you more for your money. If you can take advantage of the late entrance ticket, then there is an option for Scarefest on a budget. Neither option is cheap …but plenty of fun!
