Late Entrance Discounted Ticket to Gulliver’s Theme Parks

NB. Offer only during general theme park season. There is a reduced priced entrance ticket to Gulliver’s Theme Park that allows entry from 3pm each day.  Tickets are reduced to £6.95 per person, and whilst this will give you a maximum of  two hours in the park, it does also double up as their come back deal.  If you opt to use this late entrance deal,  once you are in the park, you can upgrade for an additional £10 per person to return the following day.

Gulliver’s Theme Parks Attempt World Record

Gulliver’s Theme Park have come up with an exciting way to break a world record by trying to eat the most jelly using chopsticks within one minute!

They’ve quite a challenge ahead of them with the current world record being held by Ashrita Furman of New York, USA  who managed to consume 610 grams (1lb 5oz) of jelly; that’s my sort of challenge.  Challenges are taking place at Gulliver’s Theme Park, Matlock Bath on 10th August, Milton Keynes on 11 August & Warrington on 12 August.

Review of Gulliver’s Theme Park & Splashzone

A Theme Park for young kids; that’s what Gulliver’s Kingdom is all about, so I took my eight year old tester with me to try out the Milton Keynes Park.

Gulliver’s World; A Theme Park for Kids?

Billed as a theme park for families with children aged between 2 & 13 years, this is certainly a theme park for young families.  However at the higher age spectrum, you will need to consider their thrill seeking needs before planning a visit.

The Python for Older Children

My thrill seeking eight year old, (who is perhaps beyond his years as a consequence of living next door to Alton Towers), thoroughly enjoyed his day whilst recognising the higher end rides were not on the scale of Oblivion or Nemesis.  For young families, those with children of varying ages or older children that would like a gentler introduction, this is an ideal place to visit.

Beat the Queues at Gulliver’s Theme Park

The great advantage of this theme park would appear to be it’s lack of queues!  We visited the first week of the summer holidays, (yes, we checked the local schools had finished too), and queued no more than 5/10 minutes for any ride!

Apparently this is commonplace even in the holidays so there is no need for costly fastrack tickets to gain value for money at this theme park.

Gulliver’s Theme Park on a Budget

Picnics are welcome at this attraction and there are plenty of picnic spots dotted around; our favourite was close to a play park that allowed me a more relaxed break!  Lockers are available at the park and cost around £1/£3 depending upon your usage or size of storage area.

Parking at this Theme Park is is free too!  As the car park is located next to the entrance, you also have the option of leaving your picnic in the car and collecting it later.

Whilst there are opportunities for additional spend here, they are not as conspicuous as at other theme parks we have visited.  For instance, there is only one ride photo point that services just two rides, (The Log Flume & Runaway), and although souvenirs are available they are easily avoided too!

The Splash Zone at Gulliver’s World

Kids love it!  The great advantage with the Splash Zone is there is no standing water so children can get as wet as they wish within a safe environment!  With slides galore, interactive features and intermittent bursts of water for more daring children, it’s a perfect spot to cool down and have some fun!

Beware on hotter days, you may prefer to join the children in the splash zone as the heat can be overpowering in the dry adult supervision areas.  For a cooler experience, you can settle by the entrance but take account that your vision of the children is limited in this area.

The changing facilities are limited so you may prefer to simply change & go at the Splash Zone.  Nevertheless, whatever adult discomforts there maybe, this is a winner for children up to around the age of 10 years.  Do remember to book this in advance as it can become pretty busy.
